Poetry is to word, what ART is to Life

A Tribute To The Poet Ted Hughes

I was taking a break from my latest painting. I needed to get away from it to let it dry...resisting the need to overwork it while it is wet only to travel down that dreadful path of discovering a muddy version of whatever I was attempting.

I put in Elton John's "Your Song" on repeat because I was craving it, not unlike a the longing for late night snack.

I ran upon this and enjoyed the distracted indulgence, so perhaps you too can appreciate this.

Ted was one of the first poets who sparked my interest in poetry....Actually, I was introduced to his work by way of his first wife Sylvia Plath. Through her I think I learned to appreciate his work.

I wish I could find a clip of Sonya Sanchez to post....so maybe next time......

How's the painting coming along?

Thanks for asking :-) I was just about to write about this so I now have the opportunity to do double duty with this reply.

It's coming along great…..working on a new piece now and experimenting with installations using previous works in natural environments. I'm actually growing more amazed at the process and its connection to my more “academic” work….research in applications of the Wopereis theory of Attention to develop technology and service solutions that help automate global social responsibilty and deliver CRM Strategy to organizations. And my Attention in these early phases of Cultural Fuison has been on regional economic development in relation to the issues associated with community development and business CRM Strategy as the basis of public-private partnerships that are transperent and inclusive.

As I work on my paper/book contribution I see the concepts evolve and take shape in the artwork. However it is so far beyond what most think of in terms of visual thinking that I feel I have found an interesting distinction in what I have to offer as an artist and as a strategy consultant. Difficult to explain so the demonstration projects are taking shape.
The new installation, one pictured here; one still in progress as it will be a scultputural installation in an installation. This installation will be part of a series associated with a specific region in Texas.

On the fiction writing side I'm revising a first draft for a series stories I'm developing into film treatments….and eventually scripts but for now my goal is the 1 or 2 page film treatment for two trilogies.

Now what's going on in your world?

Thanks for the chance to share!

Wowza awesome.  Giggles and goosebumps both.
That second paragraph is a mouth/eyeful… hee heee.  Nice though to feel connection between being in a creative sense and sharing it with the world on so many levels.  All and all sounds like you've been busy and loving it!

The link is beautiful.  I'm assuming the art is out in the art of the world 24/7.  Any special things you have to do to protect it from the “elements” or is that just an accepted part of the process?

Did a search on Wopereis theory of Attention – lotta links… so I thought I'd ask if there's a good lead to sum it up from you?

My world…  seems never enough time to live it and blog it (though I love the idea of blogging it to show folks I'm living it - ego…)

New growing love with a special someone which is fun…, reading a lot all over the map, trying not to be dejected by the masses not wanting to see what I see happening in the U.S.,  planning and prepping for a trip to Norway in FEB with 100 Minnesota National Guard soldiers - I'm the OIC (Officer in Charge);  lotta fun mixed with a lotta fun stress,  fired a kiln (for the first time in approx five years) to prep some drums for gifts to Norwegians and then used them with friends at a solstice celebration - still plan to blog the drum making process, playing more guitar again which feels wonderful.

In a nutshell - living and loving it!  Can't ask for more than that.

Blessings, David

Horray for your goosebumps!!!

Actually, the installation was staged to sell the concept….It's something I want to do in partnerhsip with parks and rec depts. So there's no worry about being exposed to the elements, the pieces are still secure in my studio awaiting there moment :-)

Sounds like you are having lots of fun!! Living it is more important that writing about it, imho.
But  blogs are great for keeping in touch :-)

Best,
Yvette
